Gratitude

Attitude of Gratitude

‘Fathom the bountiful gift of nature by God - to smile!’ This beautiful quote from a talk at TEDx platform by Louise Schwartzberg changed my perception towards Gratitude!

With more than 30 years of time-lapse photography, Louis Schwartzberg gathered exuberant shots of nature like setting sun, ripening of strawberries, and fluttering butterflies in fields. His talk touched me in various ways like his elucidation of ‘OMG!’

Is it just an expression? Oh My God! He gave this expression a new dimension.
Oh- that it caught your attention and made you pleasant and mindful.
My- meaning that it is connected to something deep inside your soul and is a gateway to your inner voice.
God - God is the personal journey that we want to be inspired with.

An inspiring project, ‘Happiness revealed’, initiated by him gave us a glimpse of the perspective from the point of view of a child and an elderly man. The elderly man spoke deep thoughts about life and its meanings. Some of his words like ‘Do you think it is another day? -  It is the one day that is given to you that is today! It is the only gift right now and only response to it is gratefulness… If you learn to respond as if it were the first day in your life and the very last day, then you will have spent the day very well. Begin by opening your eyes and be surprised that you have eyes you can open that incredible array of colors that is constantly offered to us for pure enjoyment... Let gratefulness overflow into blessing all around you, then it really will be a good day!’

The adage ‘If your purpose becomes your passion, then your passion becomes your profession’ aptly reaffirms Louis Schwartzberg’s story. His passion was photography which later became his profession. One should follow one’s dreams. The talk by him showed me how beautiful nature is - the sunrise, the sunset, and the movement of clouds. The creation of God is priceless - every day has its own magic. Only if we truly live in the present and be conscious of them!

I awakened to the numerous blessings that life has showered me with - the greatest of them all - my parents!

“Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.” ~ Stephen Covey

The Art of listening  Have you ever experienced the beauty of listening? How about trying after reading this ? Nature is mildly silent yet fiercely breezy conveying disparate feelings. In this cacophonic world where it’s hard to keep pace with words, we excel in the ‘lack of listening’, not realizing the secret marvels of nature that we are losing!  Isn’t it is hard to pay attention to the quiet, the subtle, the understated ? One spends roughly 60% of the communication time  on  listening - of which only 25% is retained! ‘Listening can be defined as making meaning from the sound which is a mental process and a process of extraction…’ as quoted by Julian Treasure in his talk  on ‘5 ways of better Listening’ , a speaker at TEDx platform.  But why are we losing  our  ability to listen? What are the reasons behind it? Certain technological changes are responsible for this in some ways: the invention of writing, audio ...

Slurppp-burp!

I won’t be impressed with technology until I can download food! ~Anonymous Food… when I hear this word, I smell flavored sumptuous and mouthwatering dishes around me that lends me wings of joy! ‘ Food is any nutritious substance that people or animals eat or drink or that plants absorb in order to maintain life and growth’ according to the dictionary. But to me, food is something else: it is something that elevates my mood, enhances my tummy-happiness, and satiates my rhapsodic urges aside providing me with nutrition and energy.  Some people just eat food to live, but I live to eat! It’s like a complete process: close your eyes, take a bite, and chew it slowly – only think about its taste, taste that no one tried before and make newer combinations in your palate to discover the tanginess, nuttiness, saltiness, crispiness, and crunchiness of innumerable cuisines. Yes! That’s how lost I am in the food labyrinth. When people ask me what makes me happ...

Silence is wisdom's best reply !!

The Beauty of Silence Pause, unleash, unwind, and surrender… How about a world where we float in an ocean of colours... Now imagine a myriad colours injected in you; from the resplendent to the ashen, from the see through to the clouded, from the pastels to the starks. The one we reflect isn't the one we are known by? Beg to differ? A magical phenomenon, non-palpable in today’s traumatising world affected my psyche in various ways, when I surrendered myself to the power of silence, in the midst of colours. Cyan ; a hue of calmness Fiery Orange ; a ray of hope  Emerald ; signifying spiritual aura  Lemon Yellow ; duping the gates of inspiration  and Fuchsia ; a perfect jargon for love… Silence is an antidote to listening. This realisation dawned upon me when I saw ' The Ink in Motion' in the midst of silence. This fascinating array of colours touched my soul and healed me from inside. It preached me how to demarcate calmness from d...
